Claddagh shot slam event to benefit breast cancer research

MIDDLETON (WKOW) -- The Claddagh Irish Pub & Restaurant hopes its attempt to break a world record on Sunday while raising money for breast cancer research.

Claddagh is partnering with Jameson Irish Whiskey to try to raise more than $25,000 in donations for local breast cancer foundations and support groups. After a restaurant manager at a Claddagh in Lansing, Michigan was diagnosed with breast cancer the company decided to raise money to fight the disease.

On Sunday, all 15 Claddagh restaurants across the U.S. will ask participants to pay a $7.00 registration fee to take part in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for "largest shot slam." Each participant will receive one shot of Jameson. The first 150 participants will also receive a commemorative shot glass.

For the Middleton location, all proceeds will benefit breast cancer recovery in partnership with the United Way of Dane County.

Anyone interested in participating should register at the Middleton Claddagh.
