MADISON (WKOW) -- State officials are warning the public that the danger of wildfires remains high across the northern half of the state.
The Department of Natural Resources has suspended burning permits from Lake Superior through most of the state's midsection, from Iron County to Marquette County.
On Thursday evening, the DNR and local fire departments put out a 113-acre blaze southwest of Grantsburg. St. Croix Area Forestry Leader Steve Runstrom says, despite recent rain, high winds and low humidity have dried out grasses and dead leaves.
County-by-county burning regulations are available on the DNR's website.
