JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Edison Middle School in Janesville is one step closer to having a new principal.
Superintendent Karen Schulte recommended Jim LeMire to the Board of Education; which will have to approve the hire at the April 27 regular board meeting.
LeMire has served as interim principal for the 2009-2010 year. He would replace Dr. Steve Sperry, who assumed the position as Director of Administrative and Human Services on July 1, 2009.
"Mr. LeMire has demonstrated a high quality of performance during his year as interim principal.," said Superintendent Dr. Karen Schulte. "His ability and knowledge during this year has fostered respect and appreciation from the staff. Mr. LeMire understands and connects with the families and community members of Edison. He has demonstrated integrity, fairness and the ability to work with the diverse community and needs of Edison Middle School."
LeMire was chosen from a pool of 44 applicants. Three applicants were interviewed by the first peer interview team comprised of: the superintendent, director, CFO, directors, and specialist. Following the interview, the first peer team submitted the names of two applicants for the second peer team to interview. The second peer interview team was comprised of an assistant, coordinator, teachers, support staff and a parent.
