Brain training; scientists say any progress may only be in your mind

UNDATED (WKOW) -- Brain training -- many people try it but scientists say any progress could be only in your mind.

There are numerous brain-training programs, from word or math games, puzzles, teasers and tests.

They claim to work like physical fitness workouts for the brain, but beware. A new study from the scientific journal, Nature says the skills don't transfer.

Patients given the brain-training programs showed improvements in specific skills, but when performing closely related tasks, subjects showed no improvement.
