STEVENS POINT (WKOW) -- A group of urban gardeners spent Earth Day standing off against police.
The protestors have been squatting at the "Lullaby Lot" since Monday in an effort to convince the city to turn the vacant space into a community garden.
The city, however, says it has plans to turn the space into high income housing.
"We are very very flexible to the idea," said Stevens Point mayor Andrew Halverson, "This is earth day, we want to work with them not against them"
The mayor says he'd be happy to consider another site for a community garden.
Police cited three of the gardeners Thursday for trespassing.
