Invention helps Wisconsin teen play music

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- A Wisconsin teen is inspiring others through his music, even though he can't use his hands.

Ethiel Vega is an eighth grader in Milwaukee who suffers from a condition called ortho repulsis that prohibits him from using his hands.

This condition would've kept most students his age from pursuing their dreams, but not Vega.

He said he's always wanted to play the trumpet, and with a little help from friends, designed a contraption to play the instrument using his arm and legs.

"Along the road for me, in my future you know, there's going to be people that's going to tell me, oh, are you sure you can do this man, you know, you can't do this cause such and such is in your way. And you know, I tell them, you do it your way, but I've got my own way to do it. And I do it," Vega says.

Vega is planning to attend the Milwaukee High School of the Arts where he hopes to continue playing for years to come.
