BRUNSWICK, GEORGIA (WKOW) -- Three Florida boaters who disappeared last Sunday were found clinging to a cooler off the coast of Brunswick, Georgia.
The cooler was all that was left of their 20 foot boat.
The three were on a routine fishing trip when the boat suddenly capsized in rough seas.
Without life preservers which were washed away, the three grabbed onto the only thing they could find: a cooler that had been on their boat.
Hours turned into days at they huddled together, holding onto the cooler. They had nothing to eat or drink and paddled to stay afloat as their legs were repeatedly stung by jellyfish.
For three days, the coast guard searched over 11,000 square miles of ocean.
Finally, a local fisherman spotted the survivors about 30 miles offshore. He pulled them onto his boat and alerted authorities.
After more than 48 hours in the water, the three are now back on land and reunited with family and friends.
All three remain in the hospital but doctors say they are already recovering quickly.
