The Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament has been going for over 30 years, but this weekend was the first time it was here in madison..
At championship Sunday at East Towne Mall, one of the teams competeing in the top men's division included former Badger and final four member Roy Boone. Boone and his teammates were happy to finally play in Madison, trying to get the title in their home city.
"For me it'd be big. Playing here in Madison we want to represent and they talk a lot of trash if we don't win," Boone said
"That's our goal. We're undefeated right now. We're in the championship and that's what I really want to do is get the first championship here so it'd be really nice to get that," teammate Will Green added.
Their team, called Mentoring Positives, won the top men's division. That is the 7th straight Gus Macker championship for them, including wins in Eau Claire and Wausau.
