MADISON (WKOW) -- You'll have a chance to hear the city's plan to revamp a stretch of University Avenue in Madison.
There's a public meeting on Thursday, May 27 at the Erdman Building at 5105 University Avenue. It will last from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The proposed project would upgrade the street from Segoe Road to Allen Boulevard. It's scheduled for construction in 2011.
City council president Mark Clear says the stretch is in terrible condition and is not safe for people who walk and bike.
Dane County Supervisor Brett Hulsey says it will create more than 50 construction jobs. 50% of the project will be funded by federal money and the rest by city and county funds.
