FENNIMORE (WKOW) -- At about 5:35 Wednesday morning, officers were called to a residents in Fennimore for a report of shots fired and damage to a vehicle.
An officer with the Fennimore Police Department arrived on the scene and noted that Naomi Halverson's vehicle had been damaged by gunfire. The officer found bullet holes and shell casings on the ground.
Carl Cathman was seen leaving the area and Officer Dresen and Grant County Sheriff's Deputy Jeardeau went to Cathman's home in Hickory Grove Township to talk to him. Cathman was home and when the officers tried to talk to him he shot at them with a rifle. Cathman was arrested a short time later with help from multiple officers.
Cathman faces charges of attempted first degree reckless homicide, criminal damage to property, felon in possession of a firearm, endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, and discharging a firearm within 100 yards of a residence.
No one was hurt in the incident and officers did not fire any shots.
