Memorial to honor sergeant killed at Fort Hood


KIEL (WKOW) -- The family of Staff Sgt. Amy Krueger will take part in a Memorial Day ceremony in Kiel as the city dedicates a memorial to honor Krueger as well as pay respects to other Americans who gave their lives in service to the nation. Krueger, a 1998 Kiel High School graduate, was a victim in the Fort Hood shootings on Nov. 5, 2009.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, the event will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 31, with the annual Memorial Day parade and will conclude with a ceremony at Veterans Park along the Sheboygan River. Kiel Mayor Robert Werdeo, Jr., and Ron Meyer, Kiel VFW Post 6707 commander, will take part in the dedication program. The public is welcome to attend.
