MONONA (WKOW) -- The city of Monona says it's taking a significant step to revitalize the housing market in town.
Mayor Robb Kahl announced the Renew Monona Loan program Friday afternoon.
Homeowners can get up to $10,000 in no-interest loans to upgrade their homes to make them more energy efficient. A new state law allows the city to take advantage of a closing city tax incremental financing district.
"We're very excited that we were able to take advantage of that new program and be the first in the state to put forward a program to help our current residents and prospective residents that want to come into the community," said Kahl.
Applications for the program will be available in August for anyone living in Monona or anyone hoping to move there.
