Board of Regents looks to reduce cost of textbooks
MADISON (WKOW) -- University of Wisconsin System campuses will be asked to take steps to help students save money on the cost of their textbooks.
The Board of Regents is expected to adopt a policy Friday recommending campuses give students more time to shop around for better prices, publish estimated cost of books in course materials and use the same books as long as possible.
The policy will also encourage textbook rental programs, using less expensive versions of books and course materials, and student initiatives like textbook swaps.
The policy will replace guidelines the system passed last year to bring down the cost of books and course materials.
