MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin plans to step up traffic safety checks of large commercial vehicles this Tuesday through Thursday.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is participating in the annual Roadcheck program sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.
The three-day safety enforcement is designed to increase compliance with all commercial motor vehicle driving and equipment regulations and increase the number of drivers wearing seat belts.
Last year large-truck crashes dropped 21 percent compared with 2008 and fatalities declined nearly 12 percent in Wisconsin.
