MADISON (WKOW) -- Garage sales are popping up everywhere now that we are in the summer months. But it may be best to pass on a bargain when buying one particular item.
Sherri Faust, a safety educator with the Dean Foundation, told Wake Up Wisconsin viewers about the dangers of buying used car seats, and also looked at any difference between seats for babies and boosters for older kids, when buying items second-hand.
Faust points out that buying used car seats at online garage sale sites like eBay or craigslist is also not a good idea.
Remember this common rule of thumb: Car seats become outdated by the time they're six years old.
