LIMA, Peru (WKOW) – Police say Joran Van der Sloot has confessed to killing a woman in Peru.
Authorities say he could be formally charged as early as Tuesday.
According to the Peruvian government, Van der Sloot confessed to killing Stephany Flores during an interrogation Monday. The broadcaster America Television reported that Van der Sloot killed Flores in a rage after learning she had looked up information about his past on his laptop.
Her body was found last week in a hotel room rented in Van der Sloot's name.
If convicted, he could get up to 35 years in prison.
Van der Sloot was also the prime suspect in the 2005 disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba.
