Wisconsin inmate sentenced for helping cellmate commit suicide

JUNEAU (WKOW) -- A Wisconsin prison inmate has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for helping his cellmate commit suicide.

Joshua Walters was cellmates with Adam Peterson.

The Dodge County judge said he questioned whether Peterson could have hanged himself without help.

The judge says this judgement was meant to punish Walters and send a message to other inmates.

Walters admitted to helping Peterson by tying the noose from a bed sheet and testing it with his arm.  He told the judge it was "a stupid mistake."
