SEATTLE (WKOW) -- FBI officials say envelopes with white powder were found Monday in eight federal buildings in the Northwest, prompting two evacuations.
The buildings were located in seven different cities across Washington, Idaho and Utah.
FBI spokeswoman Debbie Dujanovic Bertram says field tests of the Utah and Idaho powders indicate they are not hazardous.
Officials in Washington say a field test on the powder there showed its major component is calcium carbonate, which is a compound found in chalk and limestone.
Additional lab tests are pending on all the powder samples.
No injuries were reported.
