WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- Pfizer has agreed to pull a leukemia drug off the market after a study found it has failed to slow the disease like it promised to.
The FDA first cleared the drug Mylotarg in 2000 after showing early promise that it could help patients older than 60 with bone marrow cancer.
A follow-up study has showed no increase in survival times and more patients taking the drug actually died compared to those who were just on chemotherapy alone.
The FDA says the drug will not be available to new patients.
