MADISON (WKOW)-- Rhythm & Booms on Madison's east side is just 2 days away now. That means volunteers are kicking into high gear to make sure you have a great time.

We meet one of those dedicated volunteers. Randy Rice is 'Someone You Should Know.'

"We got fencing around about half of the tents already," said Randy Rice. "That's usually about 4pm when we have that done. We are way ahead of schedule."

Randy Rice is one of about 400 volunteers that make Rhythm & Booms a success.

He's volunteered for 12 years.

"Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. They're usually 12, 14 hour days," said Randy.

Randy has pretty much done it all over the years at Rhythm & Booms. He's carried donation boxes through the crowd, sold beer and food, put up fencing.

"We've got it down to pretty much a science, an art," said Randy.

Now, along with other key people, Randy helps coordinate and manage the entire event.

"It's been a great deal of fun and I just enjoy it," said Randy Rice.

Randy enjoys it so much he actually takes vacation to volunteer.

"It's worth it to spend my vacation," said Randy. "The community likes it. It's a good public service."

And, it's a great way to celebrate the Fourth of July.

"My favorite part is the show," said Randy. "The fireworks themselves. It's just an awesome event."

"How long do you plan to keep doing this? I asked.

"Until they throw me out!" Randy said laughing.
