PESHAWAR, Pakistan (WKOW) -- Officials say a suicide bomber on a motorcycle has killed at least 40 people and injured dozens in a tribal region of Pakistan.
The area of the attack is where Pakistan's army has fought the Taliban. The attack indicates that militants are still an offensive force in the region bordering Afghanistan.
The explosion Friday damaged or destroyed dozens of shops in Yakaghund village. The office of assistant political agent Rasool Khan was the apparent target.
Nearly 30 criminals held in a nearby prison are believed to have escaped during the initial blast.
