Couple set to tie the knot at Old World Wisconsin despite damage from tornado
MADISON (WKOW) -- Amber Koenig of West Allis and William Draughton of Oconomowoc are set to tie the knot Saturday afternoon on a manicured lawn at the sprawling compound of Old World Wisconsin in Eagle.
A tornado hit the area on June 21 and downed so many trees at the attraction that site officials had to shut the place down. There's still no reopen date.
Old World Wisconsin spokeswoman Lisa McGovern says the lawn has been cleared of trees but crews haven't re-landscaped it.
Rather than postponing the nuptials, site officials took the unusual step of moving the ceremony into a village. A reception will follow in an octagonal barn.
