Surgeon General to discuss oil spill across region
BAYOU LA BATRE (ALABAMA) -- Surgeon General Regina Benjamin will visit Bayou La Batre, Alabama to discuss with community residents, workers and responders as well as local officials, the mental health and public health aspects of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
The Surgeon General will be joined by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services officials Pam Hyde, Administrator, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and Admiral Jim Galloway, HHS health liaison to the National Incident Command.
The event is part of the Surgeon General's tour of Alabama, Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle this week.
