Crews work to restore power after storm

FRIENDSHIP (WKOW) -- Powerful overnight storms have resulted in wide-spread power outages across Adams-Columbia Electric Cooperative's service area. Lightning, high winds and heavy rain were reported across much of central Wisconsin.

ACEC says, at one point, there were more than 60 individual power outages and approximately 3,500 cooperative members without electric service. Crews worked through the night to restore power. By 8:00 a.m. Thursday, 31 individual power outages remained, affecting 467 cooperative members. Due to the widespread nature of the storm damage no estimate was available as to when power would be fully restored. However, line crews will continue their work until everyone is back in service.

As clean up work continues, everyone is reminded to be aware of downed or damaged electric lines. Be sure to report all problems immediately and keep a safe distance away from the power lines. Safety must always be the first priority of everyone involved in storm-recovery work.
