MADISON (WKOW) -- Nearly every county in Wisconsin has a shelter for dogs and cats but none for farm animals.
The Heartland Farm Sanctuary is trying to change that through its Day With Heart fundraiser, held Saturday at the Dane County Humane Society.
The event featured a petting zoo, food, music and fun for the kids.
"Last week, we rescued two piglets who were found wandering the streets of Milwaukee. We rescued them from Milwaukee Animal Control and brought them to a foster farm," said Dana Barre, one of the event's organizers.
The group already has a foster farm program up and running but it wants a permanent shelter.
Saturday's event was the group's first fundraiser.
