WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- Days of brutal heat have been broken by storms that left hundreds of thousands of people from Washington D.C. to New Jersey without electricity.
The worst of the power outages are in the Washington, D.C. region where more than 293,000 customers in the district and two Maryland counties have no electricity. Another 57,000 customers in the Baltimore are without power along with about 38,000 in Virginia.
The storms knocked down dozens of trees across the region. A woman in Maryland died when a tree fell on her car.
