MIAMI (WKOW) -- BP and Coast Guard officials have stopped drilling on a relief well intended to permanently plug the blown-out oil well in the Gulf of Mexico.
A tropical depression in the Gulf is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm named Danielle as it moves toward the site of the oil spill off Louisiana's coast.
A tropical storm warning has been issued for much of the Gulf Coast from Florida to Louisiana. New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain are included in that storm warning.
The depression is expected to reach tropical storm strength of 39 mph later on Wednesday.
