PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WKOW) -- Garbage washing up on Lake Michigan beaches has some in western Michigan wondering if it is coming from Wisconsin.
Shoreline residents in Mason and Manistee counties have found the trash including bottles, straws, cups, cigarette butts and syringes.
Michigan wildlife officials says the liter may have come from Milwaukee, so the U.S. Coast Guard is checking out the Wisconsin side of the lake.
In 2008, garbage from Wisconsin showed up in scattered locations over a 200-mile zone.
