MADISON (WKOW) -- Police say a quiet afternoon of fishing ended in tears as a 13-year-old boy told police a strange man stole his fishing supplies.
It happened July 24 on South Park Street at Wingra Drive. The victim was wetting his line on Wingra Creek when a man approached and demanded the boy turn over his gear.
The stranger got away with a rod, reel, pole, and a fishing bag containing hooks, bobbers, and lures. He was last seen riding away on a bicycle in the direction of the Goodman Pool.
The suspect is described as white, at least six feet tall, 130 to 140 pounds with a slim build. The victim said the man mumbled or slurred his words. He was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and an orange hat.
