MONONA (WKOW) -- Firefighters in Monona collected money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) on Saturday.
They stood at the intersection of Monona and Broadway for four hours in the humid afternoon sun to raise money for the debilitating disease.
"We're involved with kids a lot and the health of kids is important to everybody, so we want to stay involved with that and maybe help find a cure for this stuff," said Gary Clark, a Monona firefighter.
The firefighters hoped to raise at least $4,000.
The money will help pay for the MDA summer camp, the UW hospital programs and wheelchair repairs.
Last year, firefighters all over Wisconsin raised $600,000 for MDA.
