BARABOO (WKOW) -- Ed and Mary Lou Lara recently moved into a new home in Baraboo.

Smack in the middle of their repairs, a salesman approached them offering to sell a combo of internet, phone and satellite television.

They signed up, thinking it would cut down on costs and be convenient to pay only one bill.

On a Thursday, they joined.

By Monday, they wanted out.

"They promised us the same phone numbers.  We didn't get them.  They promised us certain channels.  We didn't get them," said Lara.

Lara called Verizon and DISH Network to cancel.  She says Verizon allowed them to back out right away.

"DISH gave us a hard time," she told 27 News.  "I was transferred from department to department to department."

Lara says she was told she'd have a 30 day trial with the new combo plan, only to find out that DISH apparently didn't allow anyone to cancel without paying a $420 penalty.

That's when she called for action.

The 27 News Call for Action team mediated the dispute and DISH agreed to allow the Lara family to cancel their contract without penalty.

"We got good action from you guys," said Ed.

DISH Network's corporate office was contacted but not provide a statement for this story.
