FITCHBURG (WKOW) -- An event in Fitchburg Sunday celebrates the special relationship between Wisconsin and Japan.
People packed the Fitchburg Community Center to experience Japanese culture. Chiba, Prefecture, Japan is Wisconsin's sister state. This event marks the 20th Anniversary of the relationship.
There were Japanese martial arts, sword-fighting, music, and dancing.
"Here today, we're celebrating because a goodwill delegation from Japan with performers are here to perform and celebrate our 20 years together," said Barb Rothwell, President of Wisconsin Chiba, Inc.
Wisconsin-Chiba Incorporated was established in 1990. Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson and Chiba's governor signed the sister-state agreement. The goal is to create a business and cultural partnership.
