Report: Oman pursuing release of two hikers detained in Iran
TEHRAN, Iran (WKOW) -- A delegation from Oman will visit Iran to pursue the release of two American hikers detained in Iran, according to an Iranian newspaper.
The Omanis will visit on Sunday, the newspaper reports. The Americans will be able to leave with the delegation if they are released.
Foreign Ministry officials in Oman have not yet commented. The Iranian lawyer for the Americans said he did not know about the visit.
The Gulf sultanate of Oman played a major role in releasing American, Sarah Shourd, a few weeks ago. Shourd was originally arrested with Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal but was freed because of health problems.
