CLEVELAND (WKOW) -- Medical staff say a viral infection is most likely what sent former President Jimmy Carter to an Ohio hospital with an upset stomach.
The infection is clearing up, but Carter is still recovering, according to a statement from MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland on Wednesday.
Carter, who is 85 years old, felt sick Tuesday during a Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Cleveland. Rescue crews rushed him to an emergency room after the plane landed.
The hospital statement says, "President Carter thanks all those who have expressed concern and sent greetings to him."
