MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- The Milwaukee police department is facing some serious accusations.
An assistant chief at the Milwaukee police department has been cited for first-offense operating while intoxicated.
The police department says Assistant Chief Edward Liebrecht crashed his personal car into a tree at about 3:40 a.m. Thursday. He was not injured.
The 55-year-old was also cited for operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration and unsafe lane deviation.
The department is doing an internal investigation and the Milwaukee County Sheriff's department is also investigating.
Liebrecht, who has been suspended, is one of four assistant chiefs at the department and is in charge of the Professional Standards Bureau.
