U.S. Airways flight evacuated after security concerns
PHILADELPHIA (WKOW) -- A U.S. Airways flight was delayed Thursday for several hours after security concerns led officials to evacuate the plane.
FBI spokesman J.J. Klaver reported two U.S. Airways baggage handlers on the tarmac raised several concerns about a third baggage handler who was not supposed to be in the area. He says that third baggage handler took off in a vehicle and has not been identified or located.
The flight was planned to depart at 11 a.m. Passengers were towed to a secure area for inspection of the plane. The Airbus 319 was surrounded by emergency vehicles and security dogs checked over the luggage spread on the ground.
Officials say no suspicious items were located in the plane and there are no suspicions of any terrorist link.
