Two fishermen save bridge jumper

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WKOW) -- Police say two men fishing on the Fox River saved a woman who leapt off the Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge in an attempt to commit suicide.

Jim Hughes of Kaukauna and Lonny Ziermer of Oshkosh were fishing Saturday afternoon and heard a loud splash behind them while passing under the interstate bridge. The men told the Green Bay Press Gazette that Hughes thought it was a big fish jumping and Ziemer thought it was a tire falling off the bridge, until they saw a woman's body surface.

The men pulled her from the river and called 911. Emergency personnel were able to revive her. Police say she is a 42-year-old woman from Howard. She is now being treated at an area hospital.
