MADISON (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin Better Business Bureau is hosting "ShredFest" to help consumers protect themselves from identity theft.
Consumers in Madison, Appleton and West Allis will get the chance to shred personal documents for free on Saturday, October 23.
Consumers are limited to three boxes of documents for shredding. Organizers say good documents to shred are canceled checks, credit- and debit-card receipts, bank statements and paycheck stubs.
Event organizers hope the event will teach people to be their own first line of defense against identity theft.
Madison residents can take their boxes to the Anchor Bank at 216 Cottage Grove Road from 7:30 am to 10:30 am.
