Jury selection in 1980 Columbia Co. murder

JEFFERSON (WKOW) -- A jury from Jefferson County is being selected Monday for the homicide trial of Curtis Forbes, who is charged with killing an 18-year-old acquaintance near Columbus three decades ago.

The jury panel is being picked outside of Columbia County because of publicity surrounding the case.

Authorities alleged Forbes killed Marilyn McIntyre in 1980. Authorities said a follow-up investigation during the past several years revealed Forbes' DNA was mixed with McIntyre's blood in a bathroom sink. Authorities also said a witness claimed in recent years Forbes boasted of carrying out the killing.

The  trial's opening arguments from the prosecution and defense are expected Tuesday.
