Alternate side parking rules take effect

MADISON (WKOW) -- Beginning November 15, make sure you're parked on the correct side of the street.

Alternate Side Parking is in effect until March 15, throughout the city of Madison, regardless of weather conditions.

On even-numbered days, park on the side of the street with even house numbers from 1 a.m. until 7 a.m. On odd-numbered days, park on the odd side of the street between those hours.

For example, if you return from work or school at 8 p.m. November 15 and do not plan on moving your car until morning, you should park on the even side of the street.

Those who do not comply with Alternate Side Parking are subject to a $20 fine. During a city-declared Snow Emergency, the fine jumps to $60. All violators could also be subject to tow.

For more information on Alternate Side Parking and Snow Emergencies, check out the Winter Parking section of the City of Madison website.
