MADISON (WKOW) -- It's a gingerbread spectacular at Hilldale Mall in Madison Saturday.
The charity Dane County CASA held its annual event Gingerbread Casas for CASA.
The fundraiser is free and open to the public.
The organization raises money through corporate sponsors in their gingerbread competition.
The non-profit organization helps children who are in the child protection system because of abuse or neglect.
Mary Beth Collins, CASA Executive Director, says, "It's really important for us to get the word out. We're just trying to get people to be aware these kids exist in our community. They need people to care about what happens to them and they need safe, permanent homes where they can learn and grow."
Over fifteen gingerbread houses and decorating teams were up for various awards. This 14-foot gingerbread house will be on display throughout the holiday season in Hilldale's main atrium.
