Wisconsin deer harvest up 11% since 2009

WISCONSIN (WKOW) -- Even if they didn't bag the big one, deer hunters have a little something to be happy about.

The Department of Natural Resources says hunters took more than 218,000 deer during the 9 day gun-deer season.

That's up about 11 percent from last year. A good share of that increase came from bucks. Hunters registered more than 102,000 bucks which is up 17 percent from 2009.

There were also no hunting-related deaths for only the second time on record.
