MADISON (WKOW)-- It was surprisingly quiet Monday at the UW ticket office.
Wisconsin's allotted Rose Bowl tickets hadn't even arrived and they were already sold out to students, donors and season ticket holders only, leaving other Badger fans out of luck.
"It's a pet peeve of mine but that's a system that's just how they do it here. I'm not a real fan of that but what can you say?" said Claudia Meyers, who wants to go to the Rose Bowl but cannot find a ticket under $250, which she says is too expensive.
"You know, you feel bad but there's only so many tickets that go around," said Steve Nelson, a donor and season ticket holder.
But even Nelson wasn't sure he'd land a spot.
"I didn't know how the tickets would be distributed and I checked my email at home and checked again this morning, still nothing, so I was nervous," said Nelson.
He finally got the email confirming he can buy eight tickets. The top donors, who give at least $25,000 a year can buy up to 22 tickets.
"Season ticket holders are the ones who support the Badgers every game, every year, and they have been through the good and the bad and they should be the first ones [to get tickets]," said Nelson.
If you're still determined to go, there are options thanks to websites like StubHub and Craigslist, where prices range from about $250 to $1,000.
And if you're still searching, the Badgers' opponent, TCU, could be your lucky charm. Get this: If you give $100 to the Frog Club, you'll get on their donor list and take their tickets at face value.
Frog Club Director John Denton says anyone can become a member, Horned Frog fan or not, but there is a point system for how long you've been a member so it is somewhat of a gamble. Still, we could see a number of Badger fans suddenly appear on the Frog Club roster, all in the name of Bucky.
