WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former President Bill Clinton says the tax cut compromise President Barack Obama negotiated with Republicans is the best bipartisan deal possible.
Clinton and Obama made a surprise appearance together in the White House briefing room after a private meeting in the Oval Office on Friday.
Obama said it was a "terrific meeting" and then turned the podium over to Clinton.
Clinton said the agreement would help America over the long term and urged fellow Democrats to support it.
The deal includes a two-year extension of tax cuts for all income levels, and an extension of unemployment benefits.
Said Clinton: "I don't believe they can get a better deal by waiting."
