DA: Officer who shot hostage-taker cleared of any wrongdoing

MONONA (WKOW) -- The Monona police officer who shot and killed a suspect in a kidnapping and robbery this week was cleared of any wrongdoing on Friday.

The Dane County District Attorney's Office made the announcement in the death of Daniel Thomas on Wednesday.

Police say Thomas took a 63-year-old man hostage in the man's east side Madison home, then forced him to a Monona credit union to withdraw money.

Thomas was shot and killed by police in the credit union parking lot.
