UPDATE: Dulles International Airport terminal reopens after suspicious package

CHANTILLY, VA (WKOW) -- Authorities have reopened about half of the main terminal at Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia after a suspicious package was found to be harmless.

Airport officials say the package was discovered Thursday afternoon near the baggage claim by a police dog.  Some ticketing desks and baggage areas were closed for more than two hours, but flights continued operating.

Officials say a Virginia State Police bomb squad examined the package and determined it was harmless. Officials have not said what was inside.

The package does not seem to be similar to packages found at Maryland state government buildings that ignited on Thursday.
