MADISON (WKOW) -- State Republicans are renewing their push to make voters show a photo ID before getting a ballot.
Sponsors of the bill, Rep. Jeff Stone and Sen. Joe Leibham, circulated a draft of the legislation Friday for co-sponsorship.
Republicans say it will cut down on fraud at the polls. But Democrats say it will keep people from voting.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald has said passing the bill is one of the first things he wants the Senate to accomplish.
The bill sponsors are cutting off opportunities for co-sponsors on Tuesday, which indicates the proposal is on a fast track.
