MADISON (WKOW) -- Police and the Dane County Coroner's Office are investigating the death of a patient at Mendota Mental Health Institute.
Officers were called to the institute just before 8 a.m. Saturday morning on a report that a 50-year-old patient had stopped breathing.
Police say the patient had been restrained after fighting and struggling with staff, and was later observed to be unresponsive. Efforts to revive the patient were unsuccessful.
