Marquette University museum gets new art pieces

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- A big boost for a museum at Marquette University. They just received three separate donations of art and photography works worth $1 million.

The Milwaukee university says the donations include 135 pieces, including works by Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.

One of the sets announced Monday came from Michael and Mary Tatalovich. The couple graduated from Marquette in the early 1960s. They gave 80 contemporary works to the Haggerty Museum of Art.

Michael Tatalovich says they donated the collection to ensure it will be well taken care of and accessible to the general public.

A second donation came from the Bruce Silverstein Gallery in New York. It features 30 pictures from New York street photographer Frank Paulin.

The last set was donated anonymously. It includes 25 contemporary photos, many featuring scenes from rural Wisconsin.
