ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (WKOW) – The United States Geological Service says a magnitude 7.4 earthquake hit a remote area in southwestern Pakistan.
The earthquake struck at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday near the border with Afghanistan.
Several nearby provinces felt the earthquake, according to local TV reports.
Reports of damage are not yet available.
A magnitude 7.6 earthquake in 2005 killed about 80,000 people in northwestern Pakistan and Kashmir. It left more than 3 million people homeless.
